Cohort Chicago

Terms

Last updated 19 July 2026

These terms cover the Cohort Chicago website and membership. Applying or joining means you agree to them.

Applying

Membership is by application and at our discretion. We review in small batches and aim to respond within two weeks. We may decline or waitlist an application without giving a reason. Please answer honestly — material misstatements are grounds for declining an application or ending a membership.

Dues

Annual dues are $1,000 per household. Dues cover programming and administration. They are billed on acceptance and annually thereafter, and are non-refundable except as described below. We will give at least sixty days' notice before any change to dues.

Travel and events

Group travel is optional and pay-your-own-way at group-negotiated rates. Trip costs, deposits, and cancellation terms are set by the airlines, hotels, and operators involved, and are passed through to you as they are given to us. Cohort Chicago arranges and coordinates; we are not a travel agency, tour operator, or insurer. We strongly recommend your own travel insurance.

You are responsible for supervising your own children at all events and on all trips. Cohort Chicago does not provide childcare or supervision unless a specific event says so in writing.

Conduct

This community runs on generosity and discretion. We ask members to:

We may suspend or end a membership for conduct that harms the community. Where we end a membership for conduct, dues are not refunded.

No sponsorships

We take no vendor sponsorships and accept no payment for access to members. If anyone represents otherwise, it is not us.

Cancelling

You may leave at any time by writing to us. Within thirty days of first joining we will refund your dues in full. After that, dues are not refunded, and membership runs to the end of the paid year.

The website

The site and its contents are ours. Please do not copy, scrape, or republish them. Your private application link is personal to you; do not share it. Do not attempt to access another member's application or disrupt the site.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cohort Chicago is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from membership, events, or travel, and our total liability is limited to the dues you paid in the preceding twelve months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and the courts of Cook County, Illinois have exclusive jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will email members before it takes effect.
