The Cohort

Three ways we spend time together.

Together in Chicago

Museum after-hours, sailing on Lake Michigan, farm days, cooking classes, ski weekends within driving distance. About two gatherings a month.

Travel as a group

Two or three family trips a year — a domestic long weekend, an international week, a quieter adults-only escape. Off-peak, kid-friendly, group-negotiated rates.

Time for the grown-ups

Quarterly dinners for parents and casual midweek meetups. Small enough to remember every name.

Membership

A small, considered group.

Cohort Chicago is for families in the Chicago area with kids between the ages of three and sixteen. Our members tend to be founders, investors, family-office principals, semi-retired professionals, and others with flexibility in how they spend their week. What they share is time, curiosity, and a preference for depth over networking.

We keep membership small on purpose. Everyone knows everyone.

Practicalities

Simple by design.

Application-based.

A short form. About three minutes to complete.

Annual dues of $1,000.

Covers programming and administration. That's it.

Travel is pay-your-own-way.

At group-negotiated rates. Optional, always.

No vendor pitches. No sponsorships. Ever.

The community is the product.

Questions

Answers before you ask.

How are members selected?
We read every application ourselves and review in small batches. We look for families who will show up, contribute, and treat other members with generosity.
Is there a financial requirement?
Yes. To keep programming and travel aligned across the group, members generally have a household net worth of $2.7 million or more, inclusive of primary residence. We ask about this indirectly in the application.
Do both parents need to attend events?
No. Come solo, come together, come with a nanny. Whatever works for your family.
What ages are the kids?
Three to sixteen. We group activities by age so playdates actually work.
How often are events?
About two a month locally, plus optional travel. Attend what you want.
We're new to Chicago. Can we still apply?
Yes. Being new is often exactly why people join.
How do I hear back?
Within two weeks of applying.

Time is the one thing you cannot outsource.

If Cohort sounds like your kind of community, we'd love to hear from you.
